Top Five Alternatives to Gmail

Gmail is the most utilized email client in the world boasting over 900 million users worldwide. Some people love it and some people hate it, but often times it is the client that you have to use in some business situations because it links to other Google services such as Drive and Docs. Gmail is very versatile and customizable and there are some things you can do with it such as attach a phone number to it and use Google as an answering machine.
One of the biggest concerns with Gmail is that of privacy. Emails are scanned by Google in order to gather more information on your likes and dislikes. Since Google captures just about any information on the user it can through the use of the search engine and other services, in order to build an advertising profile, you may want to diversify the services you use. Another problem with Gmail is like all other Google products. Its interface is not very intuitive or user friendly compared to other clients So, here are five alternatives.
Microsoft Outlook
Outlook used to be the premier mail client before Google came along and created their own. In the old days, it was software installed on every Windows unit. But now it is also available to use online at Outlook.com and the features rival that of Google as well as being able to sync with Microsoft’s own products and has the ability to sync with any other email clients you may be using.
Yahoo! Mail
Yahoo used to be a very simplistic mail client that was fine for personal use but lacked some of the sophisticated features that Google and Outlook have. But it has been updated and the benefit is that it is more user-friendly than both Gmail and Outlook. It also boasts 1 TB of space with each email account you create.
Mail.com
Mail.com is a free service that allows you to choose among hundreds of domain names that suit your profession or personality. For example, if you love yachts, you can choose “my name@yachtlover.com“. The storage is unlimited and it features an anti-virus scan, calendar integration and you can send attachments up to 50 MB.
Zoho Mail
A benefit to Zoho is that you can have an email address that works with your own domain name. The free version can host one domain with up to five email addresses. It also supports both POP and IMAP. It is a great client for businesses that integrates with your contacts, calendar, notes, etc.
Tutanota
Tutanota is a fairly new mail client created out of Germany and was borne out of the increasing need for privacy because all sent and received email is encrypted. Everything in your client is encrypted including your correspondence, contacts and documents. It also has a clean and uncluttered interface and you can choose from five domain names.
