YouTube is the worlds largest video sharing site in with billions of videos on every topic imaginable for your viewing pleasure. On top of that, you can download your own videos for the world to see, as it is the third most viewed site in the world according to Alexa. So why would you want to go anywhere else to view and share videos?
One good reason is that since Google bought YouTube, it has been known for censorship. The other valid reason to go somewhere else is to protect your privacy. Although all video sharing sites do collect cookies, they are not building a Big Brother profile on you as Google does. So let’s take a look at five alternatives.

Daily Motion is probably the most similar video sharing platforms to YouTube as far as layout is concerned. The upside is that the videos tend to be of higher quality. The downside is that videos are limited to 20 minutes. They also have less strict copyright laws and uploaders usually don’t have to be worried about getting banned.

Vimeo is the premier video sharing site for high quality, artistic videos. It was created by artists, for artists So you won’t find any selfie style videos taken with a phone. Businesses also love this site because it gets a lot of search engine ranking. It is ad-free and very customizable if you are creating videos.
Vevo
Vevo is a great place to go if you love watching music videos. It’s a place that new artists or artists with new material love to showcase their newest releases. All of these high-quality videos are promoted by Sony Music Entertainment or Universal Music Group. It also syndicates it’s videos on YouTube as well as having an internet television channel that runs for 24 hours.
